Electric vehicles will soon enable people everywhere to avoid fossil use and CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions in transportation. They can become a “leapfrog technology” by bypassing the infrastructure needs and vulnerabilities of electric grids and fossil fuel deliveries.
Trends are converging that can remove the world’s dependence on fossil fuels. We can thus relieve the world of atmospheric CO2 increase, anthropogenic climate changes, wars and wastes of lives and money on the armaments industry, and rulers who neglect their citizens because revenue comes from fossil fuel, not citizens’ taxes (1).
This is my primary blog. Other comments can be found on LinkedIn, Facebook, Cambridge blog, and Twitter. The first blog on this site is intended to set the stage for ideas and discussions below. For reasons explained in that blog, we can overcome the very real issues with the environment, resources, and people through knowledge and innovation.
Climate change has always occurred naturally, and now is compounded by human causes as well. The climate change caused by people will probably be hotter and so more harmful than natural climate change; natural climate change, on the other hand, would likely be more spectacular because glaciers would return and sea levels would recede. We need to stop or slow human-induced climate change while simultaneously preparing for inevitable changes.
